Ingredients:
- 1 1/2 cups salted peanuts (or mixed nuts)
- 1 1/2 cups pretzel sticks (broken into pieces)
- 1 cup unsalted butter (2 sticks)
- 1 cup packed brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 12 oz chocolate chips (semi-sweet or milk chocolate)
- 12 oz white chocolate chips (optional, for drizzling)
- 1/2 teaspoon sea salt (optional, for topping)

Instructions:
- Layer Ingredients in Crockpot:
- In the bottom of your Crockpot, layer the peanuts, pretzels, and chocolate chips (semi-sweet or milk chocolate) evenly. Set aside the white chocolate chips for later.
- Prepare the Caramel Sauce:
- In a saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter. Once melted, stir in the brown sugar and bring it to a boil. Allow it to boil for 3-4 minutes, stirring occasionally, until it has thickened slightly.
- Remove the saucepan from heat and stir in the vanilla extract.
- Pour Caramel Over Ingredients:
- Carefully pour the caramel mixture over the ingredients in the Crockpot. Stir gently to coat everything evenly. Make sure the caramel gets distributed well throughout the peanuts, pretzels, and chocolate.
- Cook in the Crockpot:
- Set the Crockpot to low heat and cover it. Cook for 2 hours, stirring every 30 minutes to ensure the mixture doesn’t burn and everything melts evenly.
- Add White Chocolate (Optional):
- Once everything is melted and well-mixed, sprinkle the white chocolate chips on top. Cover the Crockpot again and let the residual heat melt the white chocolate chips for 15-20 minutes. Once the white chocolate has softened, stir to combine.
- Let It Set:
- Spread the mixture onto a lined baking sheet, smoothing it out into an even layer.
- Sprinkle a pinch of sea salt on top if desired for a sweet-salty flavor contrast.
- Allow the “Christmas Crack” to cool completely before breaking it into pieces.
- Serve:
- Once cooled and broken into pieces, serve and enjoy this festive, sweet, and salty treat! Perfect for holiday gifting or parties.
Tips:
- Storage: Store the Christmas Crack in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 1-2 weeks. You can also freeze it for longer storage.
- Variations: Add other mix-ins like M&Ms, mini marshmallows, or crushed candy canes for a fun holiday twist.
- Make It Nut-Free: If you’re making this for someone with a nut allergy, simply omit the peanuts and use other snacks like Chex mix or just pretzels and chocolate.
