Ingredients:
- 1 can (8 oz) crescent roll dough
- 1/2 lb breakfast sausage (mild or spicy, based on preference)
- 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese (or cheese of your choice)
- 1/4 cup cream cheese, softened (optional for extra creaminess)
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder (optional)
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 1 egg (for egg wash, optional)

Instructions:
- Preheat the Oven:
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat for easy cleanup.
- Cook the Sausage:
- In a skillet over medium heat, cook the breakfast sausage, breaking it apart with a spatula as it cooks. Cook until browned and fully cooked through, about 5-7 minutes. Drain any excess fat, if necessary.
- Optional: Stir in cream cheese, garlic powder, salt, and pepper to the cooked sausage. This will add extra creaminess and flavor to the filling.
- Prepare the Crescent Rolls:
- Unroll the crescent roll dough and separate the dough into triangles along the perforated lines. You should have 8 triangles for one can of dough.
- Place a small spoonful of the cooked sausage mixture in the center of each crescent dough triangle. Add a little shredded cheese on top of the sausage.
- Roll the Crescent Rolls:
- Starting from the wide end of each triangle, roll the dough up around the sausage mixture, following the shape of the crescent. Make sure the filling is enclosed, but don’t worry if a little sausage peeks through.
- Egg Wash (Optional):
- If you’d like a golden, shiny finish on your crescent rolls, beat the egg and brush it over the top of each roll before baking.
- Bake the Crescent Rolls:
- Place the rolled-up crescent rolls on the prepared baking sheet and bake according to the package instructions (typically 10-12 minutes), or until golden brown and crispy on the outside.
- Serve:
- Once baked, remove the sausage crescent rolls from the oven and allow them to cool slightly before serving. Serve warm for the best experience!
Tips:
- Make-Ahead: You can prepare the sausage mixture in advance and store it in the fridge for up to 2 days. Just assemble the rolls and bake when you’re ready.
- Cheese Variations: Feel free to experiment with different types of cheese, such as pepper jack, mozzarella, or even a blend of cheeses.
- Extra Veggies: Add finely chopped onions, peppers, or spinach to the sausage mixture for a more colorful and flavorful filling.
Notes:
- Freezing: These sausage rolls can be made ahead and frozen. To freeze, bake them first and allow them to cool completely. Then, store them in a freezer-safe bag. Reheat them in the oven for 10-12 minutes at 350°F (175°C) when ready to serve.
- Serving Ideas: Serve these with a side of fresh fruit, hash browns, or a cup of coffee for a perfect breakfast.
