Ingredients:
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1/2 cup caramel sauce (store-bought or homemade)
- 1/2 cup chopped pecans (or more, depending on preference)

Instructions:
- Preheat the Oven:
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease or line a 9×9-inch baking pan with parchment paper for easy removal.
- Prepare the Dough:
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, melted butter, brown sugar, baking soda, and salt. Stir until the mixture forms a dough-like consistency.
- Bake the Base:
- Press the dough into the bottom of the prepared baking pan, creating an even layer. Use the back of a spoon to press it down firmly.
- Bake the crust in the preheated oven for about 12-15 minutes or until it is golden and slightly firm to the touch.
- Add the Toppings:
- After baking the crust, remove it from the oven and sprinkle the chocolate chips evenly over the hot crust.
- Drizzle the caramel sauce over the chocolate chips, making sure to cover as much of the surface as possible.
- Sprinkle the chopped pecans on top of the caramel.
- Bake Again:
- Return the pan to the oven and bake for an additional 10-12 minutes, or until the caramel is bubbly and the chocolate has melted and started to spread.
- Cool and Serve:
- Allow the bars to cool completely in the pan before cutting them into squares. For best results, refrigerate for about 30 minutes to help set the caramel and chocolate.
- Enjoy:
- Serve your Easy Turtle Bars and enjoy the sweet, gooey, and crunchy goodness!
Tips:
- Chocolate Variation: You can mix milk chocolate chips or white chocolate chips for a different twist on the flavor.
- Nut-Free Version: If you’re allergic to nuts, you can omit the pecans or replace them with a nut-free option like sunflower seeds or just leave them out entirely.
- Make It Fancy: Drizzle extra caramel sauce and a sprinkle of sea salt over the bars for an elegant touch.
Notes:
- Storage: Store these bars in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days. You can also refrigerate them for a longer shelf life.
- Freezing: These turtle bars freeze wonderfully! Just wrap them tightly in plastic wrap or foil, then place them in an airtight container. Freeze for up to 2-3 months. Let them thaw in the fridge overnight before serving.
