Ingredients:
- 2 sheets of puff pastry (store-bought, thawed if frozen)
- 1/2 cup Nutella (or other chocolate hazelnut spread)
- 1 egg (for egg wash)
- Powdered sugar (for dusting, optional)
- A pinch of sea salt (optional, to enhance the Nutella flavor)
- Holiday sprinkles (optional, for decoration)

Instructions:
- Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Prepare the Puff Pastry: Unroll both sheets of puff pastry on a clean surface. Place one sheet on the baking sheet as your base. Using a round object (like a small bowl or a cup), trace and lightly cut around the edges of the circle to form the wreath shape. You can use a knife to create a star or flower-like shape as a guide if desired.
- Spread Nutella: Spread a generous layer of Nutella (about 1/2 cup) evenly across the surface of the first sheet of puff pastry, leaving a small border around the edges. If desired, sprinkle a little sea salt on top to enhance the Nutella flavor.
- Top with Second Sheet of Puff Pastry: Lay the second sheet of puff pastry over the first one, aligning the edges. Press down gently around the edges to seal them. Then, using a sharp knife or pizza cutter, slice the dough into 16 wedges (like slicing a pizza).
- Twist and Shape the Wreath: Carefully twist each wedge (the sections with Nutella) a couple of times to create the “star” or spiral shape. Arrange them so they form a wreath-like appearance on the baking sheet.
- Egg Wash: In a small bowl, beat the egg and brush it over the surface of the pastry to give it a golden, glossy finish when baked.
- Bake the Wreath: Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the puff pastry is golden brown and puffed up. The Nutella should be melted and bubbly inside.
- Serve: Remove the wreath from the oven and allow it to cool slightly. Dust with powdered sugar if desired for a festive look. You can also add holiday sprinkles or edible glitter to enhance the decoration.
- Enjoy! Slice the wreath into portions and serve warm. It’s best enjoyed fresh but can be reheated slightly in the oven or microwave.
Tips:
- Puff Pastry: If you’re using frozen puff pastry, be sure to let it thaw completely before starting. This will make it easier to handle and puff properly when baking.
- Nutella Alternatives: If you don’t have Nutella, you can use other chocolate spreads or even a mixture of chocolate chips and peanut butter.
- Flavor Twist: Add a pinch of cinnamon, vanilla, or orange zest to the Nutella before spreading it for a festive flavor twist.
- Decorations: For an extra holiday touch, you can sprinkle the wreath with festive sprinkles or even a little edible gold dust for extra sparkle!
Notes:
- Make-Ahead: You can assemble the wreath ahead of time and refrigerate it for up to a couple of hours before baking.
- Leftovers: Store any leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for 1-2 days. Reheat in the oven to get the puff pastry crispy again.
