Ingredients:
For the Apple Cinnamon Fries:
- 3 large potatoes (Russet potatoes work best)
- 1 medium apple (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp are ideal), peeled and sliced thinly
- 2 tablespoons cornstarch
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger (optional)
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 2 cups vegetable oil (for frying)
For the Apple Cinnamon Glaze:
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1 tablespoon heavy cream or milk
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Pinch of salt

Instructions:
Step 1: Prepare the Potatoes and Apples
- Cut the potatoes: Using a curly fry cutter or a spiralizer, cut the potatoes into curly fries. If you don’t have a curly fry cutter, you can use a regular knife to slice the potatoes into thin wedges or fries.
- Soak the potatoes: Place the cut fries in a large bowl of cold water and let them soak for 30 minutes. This helps remove excess starch, ensuring crispier fries.
- Prep the apples: While the potatoes are soaking, peel and slice the apple into thin matchsticks or small strips.
Step 2: Fry the Fries
- Heat the oil: In a large pot or deep fryer, heat the vegetable oil to 375°F (190°C). You can use a thermometer to ensure the oil is at the right temperature.
- Prepare the fry coating: In a large bowl, combine the cornstarch, cinnamon, nutmeg, salt, and optional ginger. Toss the apple slices in the cinnamon mixture until well-coated.
- Coat the fries: Drain the soaked potato fries and pat them dry with paper towels. Toss the fries in the cinnamon mixture to coat them evenly.
- Fry the potatoes and apples: Carefully drop the fries into the hot oil in batches. Fry for 3-4 minutes until they are golden brown and crispy. After the fries are done, remove them with a slotted spoon and place them on paper towels to drain excess oil. Fry the apple slices separately for 2-3 minutes until crispy.
Step 3: Make the Apple Cinnamon Glaze
- Prepare the glaze: In a small saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the brown sugar, heavy cream, cinnamon, vanilla extract, and salt. Stir continuously until the sugar has dissolved and the glaze is smooth and slightly thickened, about 2-3 minutes. Remove from heat.
Step 4: Assemble the Apple Cinnamon Curly Fries
- Drizzle the glaze: Place the crispy apple cinnamon fries on a serving platter and drizzle with the warm apple cinnamon glaze.
- Serve immediately: Enjoy the sweet and savory apple cinnamon curly fries while they’re warm, with extra glaze on the side for dipping!
Tips:
- For extra crunch: Double fry the fries! Fry the fries once, then let them rest for a few minutes before frying them again until crispy.
- Adjust sweetness: You can adjust the amount of sugar in the glaze to make it as sweet as you like, or even use honey for a natural sweetener.
- Spice it up: If you like a spicier kick, add a pinch of cayenne pepper or chili powder to the cinnamon mixture for a sweet and spicy combination.
- Add a topping: For extra decadence, top your fries with whipped cream or a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
