These Cookie Monster Cookies are as fun as they are delicious! Loaded with blue frosting, colorful sprinkles, and classic chocolate chip cookies, they resemble the iconic Cookie Monster character from Sesame Street. They’re a playful and colorful twist on traditional cookies, making them perfect for birthday parties, holidays, or whenever you need a fun treat!


Ingredients:

For the Cookie Dough:

  • 1 cup unsalted butter (softened)
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup mini chocolate chips (optional, for extra chocolatey goodness)

For the Cookie Monster Decor:

  • 1/2 cup blue frosting (store-bought or homemade, see instructions below)
  • Mini chocolate chip cookies (or regular-sized cookies, for eyes)
  • Large candy eyes (optional, for the Cookie Monster look)
  • Blue sprinkles (optional, for extra color)

Instructions:

1. Preheat the Oven:

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper or silicone baking mats.

2. Make the Cookie Dough:

  • In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar using an electric mixer until light and fluffy (about 2-3 minutes).
  • Add the eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.

3. Combine Dry Ingredients:

  • In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking soda, and salt.

4. Mix Wet and Dry Ingredients:

  • Gradually add the dry ingredients into the wet mixture, mixing just until combined.

5. Fold in the Chocolate Chips:

  • Gently fold in the semi-sweet chocolate chips and mini chocolate chips (if using).

6. Scoop and Bake the Cookies:

  • Using a cookie scoop or tablespoon, drop rounded balls of dough onto the prepared baking sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
  • Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden and the centers are soft. The cookies will firm up as they cool.

7. Cool the Cookies:

  • Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheets for 5 minutes before transferring them to wire racks to cool completely.

8. Decorate the Cookies:

  • Once the cookies have cooled, it’s time to decorate! Spread a small amount of blue frosting in the center of each cookie.
  • Place a mini chocolate chip cookie in the middle of the frosting to resemble Cookie Monster’s mouth.
  • Add two large candy eyes on top of the frosting to complete the Cookie Monster look.
  • If desired, sprinkle blue sprinkles around the frosting for an extra pop of color.

Tips:

  • Frosting: You can use store-bought blue frosting or make your own by mixing powdered sugar, butter, milk, and a few drops of blue food coloring.
